History of the Foundation

• On June 28, 1983 the Edmonton & District
Lions Clubs sponsored a “Variety Show” from
Great West Entertainment Ltd. Nine Lions and
Lioness Clubs were involved $90,000 was
raised
• This money was designated as an
endowment fund to assist men, women and
children who are terminally ill and have a last
longing for a particular journey or experience
but cannot afford to carry it out. The
endowment was spent in less than ten year.
Subsequent funds development efforts
sustained the organization.
• In 1994, the organization’s mandate was
revised to handle cases for adults over
eighteen (18) years old, as the Rainbow
Society/Wish Foundation cares for children in
this area up to eighteen years old.
• In 2000, the organization restructured with
separate teams dedicated to wish evaluation,
wish fulfillment, and funds development
targeting individual and corporate supports to
address the escalating needs.
• The Make a Dream Come True Society is
currently managed by a dedicated group of
volunteers; many are also existing Lions Club
members. Furthermore, Lions Clubs
International Multiple District 37L (Alberta)
has endorsed this foundation because the
foundation mandate is in full alignment with
Lions Clubs’ mandate. While the Society
welcomes Lions involvements, it is noteworthy
that the foundation is open to all volunteers.
Make A Dream Come True (Lions) Society is
